Upgrade from GSEOS 4.5 or GSEOS
5.0 to GSEOS 5.1 |
Before upgrading from GSEOS 4.5 or GSEOS 5.0 to GSEOS 5.1 please
carefully read the instructions below. There are some configuration
settings regarding formula files (*.qlf) that have changed between
the two versions.
Updates

- Expressions and Conversion Functions are now accessible
from Python

- GSEOS Explorer Support for Expressions and Conversion
Functions
|
|
|
Please refer to the documentation for details on Expressions and
Conversion Functions.
The following list walks you through the process of upgrading an
existing GSEOS 4.5 or GSEOS 5.0 project to GSEOS 5.1. This upgrade
essentially consists of replacing gseos.exe as well as all .dll
and .pyd files. Also, several of the system directories like
Lib, System, Include need to be replaced. Please make a backup
of all your files before starting the upgrade process. The general
approach is to delete all old files and directories first and
then installing the new ones from the archive provided below. Although
you can just unzip the archive over the old files (this might leave
some of the old files around).
Formulas are now loaded as a common resource and not with a particular
screen file. That means that you have to load the formula files
you use in the gseos.ini file. If you make changes to screens and
add Conversion functions or Expressions you wont be able to load
these screen files from GSEOS 5.0 or earlier versions any longer!
Install instructions
- Make a backup copy of your current GSEOS project.
- Remove the following directories from your GSEOS root directory:
.\Include
.\Python
.\System
- Remove the following files from your Gseos root directory:
gseos.exe
msvcrt.dll, msvcrtd.dll
python21.dll, python21_d.dll, python22.dll, python22_d.dll
- For upgrades from GSEOS 4.5 only: Remove any custom extension
*.dll modules. (You will need to download according versions for
GSEOS 5.x or recompile them if you created them yourself.)
- Download the GSEOS 5.1
upgrade files (14MB).
- Unzip the archive into the GSEOS project root directory, make
sure to extract using the path names from the archive.
- For GSEOS 4.5 upgrades only: Download any custom extension
modules (StolEmu, SasfEmu, etc.) from the
Download area.
Make sure to use the extensions modules for version 5.x.
If you have custom extension you have written yourself you will
need to recompile them:
For the Borland compiler use the following libraries: gseos50bc.lib
and python22bc_d.lib.
For the Microsoft compiler use the following libraries: gseos50ms.lib
and python22_d.lib. Copy the custom modules into the proper directory
(depending on extension).
- Enter all formula files (*.qlf) you usually load from within
your screen files in the gseos.ini [Config] section in a Load
entry.
- This upgrade installs GSEOS 5.1.245. Please check in the GSEOS
Kernel download area for the latest release.
- Upgrade to the latest release accordingly.
- Test the application by starting gseos.exe.
- If you experience any problems or need assistance go to the
support page.
